mazzer d'orazio
Mazzer (aka Marissa) holds an MFA in fiction writing from George Mason University. She lives in the DC area and runs a monthly writing workshop called Mason Alum Writers. She is a reader for Narratively.
Her fiction is largely setting-driven. Her thesis, Space to Settle, is a collection of inter-connected short stories that explore a planned community in Virginia. Her first novel, Water Closing In, is set in the coastal Maryland area and explores the dual viewpoints of a mother and son grappling with hard truths.
She has accidentally become a teacher and an essayist as well.
In her free time, she has dance parties with tiny humans and rides her bike around suburbia looking for shortcuts and good hiding places.
